Keep Calm & Carry on Painting!!
Sadly lockdown 3.0 restrictions mean we are unable to allow customers to paint at the Pottery Project.
However we continue to offer our CLICK & COLLECT service; simply select your items and paint from our online shop to make your own bespoke paint-at-home kit and collect it from us. If you prefer, you can place your order via email, message on social media or phone us (telephone only during opening hours). You can return the painted pottery to us at a later date for firing. We can no longer allow customers entry to browse the full range of pottery and paint but are very happy to help with any queries you might have, so don't hesitate to contact us.

The pandemic means we have all missed out on alot this year; but you don't have to miss out on pottery painting!
Host a fun pottery painting party over Zoom, make special gifts for your loved ones, or simply enjoy some calm creativity during a cosy afternoon at home.

We're back on the 19th May!
From 19th May we are looking forward to be able to welcome you back to paint pottery with us. Advance booking will be essential due to limited capacity and all bookings will be subject to the 'rule of six' until government guidelines change.
We will be taking bookings via our online booking page from the end of April.
We will continue to review and change our COVID safe measures in accordance with government guidelines so we can continue to provide an environment to help keep our customers and staff safe.
If you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact us.

What’s different?
Mind the Gap!
- We have reduced the number of people allowed to visit at any one time and have 4 tables available for pottery painting.
- You will see some changes to our layout including floor markers to aid social distancing.
- We will also be providing table service to limit the amount of movement of customers and ask that once seated to paint, you stay seated until you have finished and ready to leave. Our staff are available to answer any queries and bring you anything you need.
- Face masks: when you are seated (which should be the majority of the time!) face masks do not need to be worn, however please wear your mask at other times.
Bookings only
- We will be holding pottery painting sessions at allocated time slots and all places must be booked in advance using our online booking system. This enables us to maintain staggered arrival and to some extent departure times; please ensure you arrive on time for your booked session, as we will not be able to allow sessions to overrun.
- Sessions are for either a maximum of 1.5 hours or 2 hours, including time to choose your items. Please check the duration of your session at the time of booking.
- We ask for a minimum spend of £10 per session.
- The government 'rule of six' applies. One session comprises one table which can accomodate a maximum of 6 people. Please be aware that children of any age, including babies, count towards the 'rule of six'.
- Should you require more than 6 seats (for example if 2 households want to meet together and numbers exceed 6) please email/telephone to discuss your booking as we may be able to accommodate your group depending on space and availability.
- Please remember to book seats for everyone who is visiting, even if they decide not to paint (for example if 2 adults bring 1 child and 1 baby the booking must be made for 4 people).
- If you need to cancel (or amend) your booking please contact us ASAP so if necessary we can make the session available for other customers.
Keep it clean!
- For reasons of hygiene and convenience we have gone cashless and encourage contactless payments.
- You will find hand sanitisers available at our entrance, as well as on each individual table and ask that you use these before painting. Our staff will be washing their hands regularly too!
- Be assured we will be cleaning the counter, till, card machine and other touchpoints regularly. There is half an hour between painting sessions to allow time for staff to thoroughly clean and sanitise the area and equipment before the next booking.
- If you would prefer to paint with aprons, please bring your own. In our experience the majority of customers do not need them as the paint is washable.
Food & Drink
Initially our cafe will be open for drinks and treats such as cakes and confectionery.
We hope to extend the cafe menu in due course.

Collection of pottery
Firing times are a little longer than before and we expect fired pottery will be ready to collect within 7-10 days.
We ask when you pick up pottery or paint-at-home kits to come on your own if possible (and don't forget your face mask!).

Babies & Toddlers
- Need help with baby hand/footprints on pottery? As much as possible we would prefer to maintain distance and encourage you to do your baby prints. We are very happy to offer verbal guidance from a safe distance so you can achieve great results. In the instances where you might need extra hands on help from us we will of course help, but ask you to wear a mask while we take the prints. If you are planning to do baby prints we recommend 2 adults visit, if possible, so one person can hold the baby while the other does the prints.
- Plaster outprints are now available; we require you to wear a mask while we take the prints. Plaster outprints are suitable for babies under the age of 12 months.
- If you need a highchair please let us know at the time of booking.
- Please be aware we no longer have our play area or toys for little ones, so we ask you provide appropriate toys to keep them entertained at the table as they can’t be allowed to wander around.
- We are no longer providing painting aprons/bibs so please provide your own.
And finally…
- If you feel unwell, believe you may have Covid-19 symptoms or have been instructed to self isolate, STAY at HOME! Please contact us to cancel your booking ASAP and do not visit to collect/return pottery until it is safe to do so.
- We ask that all children are supervised closely by their accompanying adults to help ensure everybody's safety and well being.
- Don’t forget our paint-at-home kits are also available! So if you can’t make it to one of our bookable sessions, or you prefer to get creative at home (or in the garden!) have a look at our online shop. Paint-At-Home kits also make a great option for parties and groups wanting to get together and paint.
- Please note the situation is subject to change in accordance with any developments in government guidelines. Also if our staff have to self isolate then we may need to temporarily close, but of course will provide as much notice as possible.
We understand that much of this will be quite different to the Pottery Project experience you are used to and appreciate your patience while we all get used to this new way of working.
Thank you for your support. We look forward to seeing you soon!
